All the preceding pictures were taken by Doug or by someone holding Dougs camera. Good work Beenie Man!
Heres one of Tom's old lady. Cam came trhough with the kick ass boil. The mushrooms and garlic were off the hook!
Yours truly and Tory enjoying the Fest. Shout out to Tory, just turned 18. Can finally buy those cigarettes legally.
Proof positive that I work in the boondocks. Today at the end of school an urgent message from Kyoto Sensei. " Beware, a monkey has been spotted near the school. If you see it, stay away, tell a school official."*
WTF?!? A monkey? I guess it just came down from the mountain out of the forest to grace us with its fleebitten presence. I dont think I have shown any pictures yet but my school is smack in the middle of some old fashioned rice paddies. I have flashbacks to 'Nam every day. "Dude, this is not Nam, there are rules here." NO MONKIES! Am I the only one who gives a shit about the rules!?
The only question that remains is will the monkey sighting even make me think twice about leaving this place at my regularly scheduled time. Not a damn chance. Peace, Im outta here!
*Or something like that
Dan, Highly Proud! Julie, as most folks, highly disgusted with the blublockers.
JazzFest is all about the food and tearing that shit up! Ate so much good food, dont know where to start. Ribs, Beans, Boudin, Oyster and Aritchoke soup in a bread bowl, Crawfish patties, etc, etc, etc. Wrote a poem about it, like to hear it hear it go!
Oysters, Crawfish, sweet, sweet sauce!
Garlic, Mushrooms whats the cost?
Stomache bluging, eyes are too
Green, brown smelly pooh!
Here a cood one of Fern, Arthi, Rob and me. You can tell by the camera angle that the celebration of JazzFest was starting to get to us.
As promised, I demolished copious amounts of crawfish. Dan hooked up this 'burl' dont forget to get some of the corn and potatoes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, sorry for the extremly long time between posts. After just a couple of days back from what we will call the "JazzFest Experience", moms came to town for two weeks. We manged to hit a big portion of Honshu, Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo. We ended up traveling about 2 million km in total. Thats about 29.6 miles (or something) for all those conversionally challenged folks.
The ankle is still in extreme disrepair (tried to run today cause I was late for class, nope!) after having walked, what seems, halfway across Asia and having to stand on the stupid ass thing for my job, it doesnt seem to be getting any better. As a matter of fact, it is still swollen. Aint THAT a bitch!
After mom left, had a conference in Kobe. It was pretty cool. Great city. Got to stay with Doug for about five days, and it was good to see him again and catch up. It had been almost a month since I had seen him last, and thats too long when you are talking about life partners.
I am currently working on the ticket situation. Trying to find the cheapest flight possible back to the states for AP's wedding (its gonna be the shit!) with a short layover in Heav . . . er Amsterdam. Its a process but I am hopeful. If the Dam doesnt happen, oh well. Your best friend who you have known for 22 years only gets married once (or twice, tops) in your life so thats the most important leg of the journey. Amsterdam can wait, AP cannot.
Think I will tell the story of all my recent travels through pictures toka captions on those pics. Let's enjoy!!!!!
